I am a chartered clinical psychologist and psychotherapist working in private practice from a consulting room in central Worthing. I am an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and abide by the Society's Code of Conduct. I have worked for over 27 years in the NHS, 20 years locally, also in university and college teaching. I am trained in cognitive behavioural (CBT), mindfulness and transpersonal therapies and eye movement desensitisation reprocessing (EMDR) (if these terms mean very little to you, I am happy to explain them).

Consultation

This appointment consists of an assessment of your problems and includes the opportunity to discuss treatment plans which may be suitable, what they consist of and what the possible outcomes may be. You should allow up to 2 hours for this session.

Psychological treatment

Depending on the nature and duration of your difficulties, I am able to offer a brief course of psychological therapy (6-12 sessions) to clients. If a longer period is likely to be needed, this is agreed and reviewed at three monthly intervals.

Confidentiality

What we discuss is completely confidential; for example, I will not contact other professionals without your prior agreement. I would only breach confidentiality in very rare circumstances, if there were a serious risk of a client being a danger to themselves or others, or if a serious crime had been committed or could be prevented.

Practicalities

If you wear glasses, please bring these to the session. I can be contacted by telephone on the number below. There is an answering service should I be unavailable when you phone.

Non-attendance and cancellation of appointments

Please give at least 24 hours notice of a cancellation. Should you fail to attend an appointment or cancel within 24 hours of the appointment then the normal fee will be charged.
